There's not enough time in the day. Time flies when you're having fun. A stitch in time saves nine (that one always confused me). I've got too much time on my hands vs. There's never enough time. All in good time. Living on borrowed time. Killing time. Time is of the essence.
We have some strange idioms about time. We know, logically, that time doesn't fly or crawl; it's established and predictable. There are twenty-four hours in a day, sixty minutes to an hour, sixty seconds to a minute ... you get the picture. But even if not scientifically true, our idioms contain some measure of truth - time does seem to fly by when we're having fun, just like it seems to creep by when we're bored or in pain.
What does the Bible say about time? It offers some practical advice.
It encourages us to make the best use of our time. It reminds us to commit our time to God. Ecclesiastes says, "For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven." It challenges us to trust in God and put our time in his hands.
The Bible also makes some promises about time. God will make all things beautiful in its time. God has a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. The time is surely coming when Christ will come again. When we think about our days on earth, the time we have been given is finite and limited; but we have been promised eternity. I don't know about you, but I am so used to focusing on time, it's hard for me to grasp eternity!
What are your plans for your time today? Have you set aside some time for God? Have you set aside some time to help someone else? Have you set aside some time to simply appreciate the world around you and how blessed you are?  Make some time!
