God's protection over us is always reassuring. This the morning meditational passage reminds us of God’s continual protection over us. We are reading  Acts 23:12-35. Paul, as we read yesterday in our morning meditation, was accused by the Jews for spreading heresy and it caused a great commotion in the temple. The Roman soldiers intervened and locked Paul up because it was the best way to diffuse the situation. Overnight the Jews who had accused Paul vowed that they would not eat or drink until Paul was killed.
Paul’s nephew caught wind of the plot to kill him and the guards were informed. The centurion  arranged for Paul to be transferred to Felix the Governor's jurisdiction, who ruled from the north in Caesarea. So, under heavy armed escort Paul was transferred from Jerusalem to Caesarea at night in the most secure way possible. The plot to ambush and kill Paul was thwarted. The plan was unsuccessful and that night Paul’s life was spared.
Today, let us be assured that God watches over us. We are given divine protection. Psalm 121:5-8 says, The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
