Come See Us!
Irvington United Methodist Church is a group of regular people who love God and strive to be a reflection of the love of God for the world. We aren’t all alike, but we are united in learning to love as disciples of Christ. Are we perfect? No! Do we always get it right? No! We are all at various stages in our spiritual life and seek to encourage one another to grow in faith and in love. We believe that God’s kingdom is a place for all people and that God’s church is a place where all people should experience grace and love.
What Is the Worship Service Like?
We offer a traditional service at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings (and have children, youth, and adult small group classes starting at 9:15 am). Before the service, you can find some of us hanging out in the parlor where there is coffee and cookies. They will gladly assist you in finding our sanctuary! Whether it is through music, prayer, or preaching, God’s word is at the center of our worship.
If you are interested digging deeper into the Bible and learning more about Jesus, Bible studies are also offered on Monday afternoon at 1:00 pm in the parlor and via Zoom. Draughting Theology is on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. we meet with Pastor Sunil at the Med, located in Irvington. All are welcome!
Where Should I Park?
If you know Irvington, you know that parking can be a challenge. Parking is available in the parking lot south of the church (north of Washington Street off Audubon, to the rear of the Irvington shops). You can enter the church through the south door; as you come down the hallway, the parlor is to your left, the chapel is to your right, and the sanctuary is straight ahead at the end of the hallway. There are a few designated spots near our east door, which has a handicap ramp leading to our elevator. Parking is also available on the street around the Circle and on side streets. You can enter the sanctuary directly through our north entrance.
What About My Children?
We love kids and provide several options for them on Sunday morning! Your children can always join you in worship in the sanctuary. We consider children a gift from God and enjoy their presence! During the service we offer a Family Moment especially designed to prompt engage the entire family - from grandparents, to parents, to children of all ages. We call it a Family Moment because we hope that you, as a family, will discuss that message further at home during the week. If you feel that your child might have a hard time paying attention, we offer a nursery for infants and toddlers during church service and a Kids at Worship class for older children. We offer Sunday School classes for younger and older kids at 9:15 am. We also have a Sunday night Youth Group (snacks, games/activities, learning opportunities) and fun events throughout the year. Contact us at the church for details or more information!
What Should I Wear?
We’re more concerned about you and your presence with us than we are with what you are wearing. You will find a variety of dress at IUMC – everything from suits and dresses to khakis, shorts, and jeans. Don’t worry about what to wear – you are welcome as you are.
